The astronomy and astrophysics group within the Department of Physics and Astronomy is involved in a wide range of teaching and research activities. We were ranked in the top ten physics departments for research outputs in REF 2014. Our research interests cover two broad themes, the building blocks of galaxy evolution, and high time resolution astrophysics. The first observational sub-group encompasses the properties, formation and evolution of massive stars.

Whats all this phd nonsense anyway? No, not that kind of doctor. I now have 9 months left until my PhD funding runs out, and I start paying additional fees to the University. My plan is to have submitted a thesis by then, but that will require a colossal shift in work habits and a drastic reduction in distractions.
